Getting Started with Google Ad Message Extensions 🏆

Message extensions, like all other Google Ad extensions, are eligible to show alongside your existing Adwords, generally making them larger and more feature-rich while increasing CTR.

Here is an example of a filled out Message extension:

As you can see from the image above, message extensions give users the opportunity to click to text Mav directly from the ad. You can even include a pre-written text message to make starting that conversion easier for mobile users in a hurry. This can also be useful for ad attribution as the first message will be stored in the Mav Inbox.

 

⚠ Important Note: Turn off Message reporting

 

Please ensure that you do not have message reporting turned on. Doing so may cause issues with Mav's functionality.

To ensure that you have Message reporting turned off. Browse to All Campaigns → Settings → Account Settings

How to add a Message Extension to your Ads

 

  1. Login to your Google Ads account and browse over to your campaign and then Ads & extensions.
  2. click on extensions and hit the plus button and click "Message extension". As per this screenshot:
  3. Once inside the Message Extension, fill in the following information:
    1. Message delivery. Select phone number and insert your Mav phone number.
    2. Business Name.
    3. Extension text.
    4. Default customer Message.
    5. REMOVE auto-reply. Mav will handle all auto-replies.

A few final notes:

  • Creativity and personalization are key. Don't be afraid to get creative with your Extension text and Default customer Message. For example, emoji's go a long way.
